Thoracolumbar Fascia Stretch

Fascia is everywhere.

It is a continuous, viscoelastic sensory system that wraps, connects, divides, and gives cohesion to the entire body. It plays an important role in transmitting mechanical forces between tissues, while it provides sliding and gliding between the tissues as well.

The Gluteal, Fascial & Latissimus Dorsi Connections:

Throughout the push-off phase of gait, the Gluteus Maximus muscle contracts along with the opposite Latissius as the arm is extended.

This contraction of muscles along opposite halves of the body creates tension in the Thoracolumbar Fascia, which in turn stabilizes the Sacroiliac Joint of the leg that is in contact with the ground.

Thoracolumbar Fascia Stretch

These fascial connections between the Latissimus Dorsi, Thoracolumbar Fascia, and the Gluteal muscles are very important. Removing restrictions from this line (The Dorsal Sling) is incredibly important in optimizing force generation.

Thoracic Traction – low back stretch

Banded quadraped pushbacks to deep squat. Blissfully stretches out that thoracolumbar fascia.

TLF “Punch Work”

Another banded work helping to release Thoracolumbar fascia by providing a neural sensory input by means of this simple punching exercise.
