This is good as a warm-up, as a corrective excercise, as a functional exercise, as awareness exercise and so on. It’s called a Turkish Get-Up. Whatever fitness you are engaged in (from CrossFit to yoga and pilates) it will suit you. Better breathing command and motor control are guaranteed if done properly.
Why Turkish Get-Up?
Because this is a do-less-gain-more exercise. Doing only this you’ll get better core, better sequencing, better alighnment, better balance, better awareness and even better flexibility*.
There are a lot of Turkish Get-Up instructions out there on YouTube, but I bet these two are the best.
Gray Cook‘s exceptional explanations with Mark Chen’s perfect demonstration will cue you through the whole process in details.
